Why I disagree with my church

1. The use of of the NIV Bible. It has been proven to have mistakes and omissions. Of course, no translation is perfect but I do wish other versions could be used as well.
2. Women preachers . Now I do believe a woman can have a ministry but I don't believe a woman should be in the pulpit or in charge of a church.
3. The Christian creed - not because I don't believe what it says but rather because of its use of the term Catholic church. They claim it is just another word for Christian church but since I disagree with much of the Catholic religion (okay, mostly the whole praying TO the saints), it just rings wrong to me to be in a Presbyterian church and be saying Catholic.
4. The support of The Shack. Now I read the book, I did. It was very odd. Quite sacrilegious to be honest, I mean God was portrayed as a woman for one thing. And then humanizing the Holy Spirit is completely against the Bible as well. Frankly I was just shocked to hear the preacher enthusiastically talking about the movie and setting up study times for it.
5. Politics in the pulpit. It's been made clear that the preacher did not vote Trump and that's fine, it is, I don't expect everyone to agree on politics but politics don't belong in the pulpit.
To  be completely honest , this church isn't very Christian at all. No one even brings a Bible to church here! I think many just go because it is something they should do over what they actually believe.

Today's ramble

Today while I was on facebook, I saw Joss Whedon trending. Now, I love Firefly and I had seen a meme yesterday about a possible revival  so I kind of hoped that was what it was, because that would be awesome.
However, after seeing why Joss was trending, I'm not sure I'd want to see anything from him again. Now don't get me wrong, I feel he has every right to his opinion politically and he even has the right to declare it publicly like I'm doing right now. But what he said was uncalled for, I can't even imagine the level of hatred it must take to say what he did. I did not like what he had to say about the election either but this was just over a Cabinet member being put into office.
It is something I truly do not understand. The election is over, Hollywood. It was actually done twice and you still lost. How about instead of helping to divide the country and your fans, you help unite it instead?
Whether or not you like Trump isn't the issue. He is the President, he is going to be for the next four years at least. The people have spoken, they have spoken loud and clear.
Hollywood celebrities have power and influence in this country, whether or not you like it, they do. People want to dress like them, have their hairstyles, eat like them, and people listen to celebrity opinion even if the said celebrity is a stupid idiot.
Why not use that influence to better the country? Why help incite the anger and hatred? Why are celebrities like Joss Whedon saying these things instead of doing something that really matters?
Even a peaceful protest I could understand. I don't even have to agree with the reasoning but I agree with the right to hold the protest. Like the Women's March on Saturday in DC. I don't entirely understand that one, it seems to be about women's and gay rights? I just know one thing about it and that is I never want to see a pink pussyhat again. But I still agree with the right to hold the March.
The people who hold the most influence are the very ones helping to divide instead of unite. People I have admired from TV shows, knit wear designers, etc, they are hash tagging not my president, making all sorts of videos about how they don't like Trump, they are alienating the very people who put them into the spotlight. My personal favorite thing is when THEY'RE NOT EVEN AMERICAN!!! I have actually deleted Facebook pages from my favorites because frankly, I don't want to know your politics I just want to buy yarn. I've debated over not watching certain shows anymore for the same reason. Knowing how nasty some of these people are really takes the enjoyment out of the show or pattern.
I'm not sure I can ever watch Firefly again, knowing how Joss Whedon is. Which is a shame because it's long been one of my favorite shows and I'd seriously be interested in a revival
